Scars are insecurity causers for a lot of people. One can hide it with makeup or clothing, but a permanent fix is hard to attain. The truth about scars are that they don’t fade fast, once appeared. 

How Does Scarring Happen?

Scarring is infact a good that happens to you following injury.Meaning your body has done a good job from microbe to entering your system. However, from a cosmetic point of view it is not acceptable to some in certain areas, especially the face. Its appearance and treatment depend on many factors such as depth of the injury, size of the wound, the location of the injury, age, genes, sex, and ethnicity.

Other factors such as your health condition such as diabetes and medications can influence the wounds.

What Are the Types of Scars?

These are several different types of scars including:

It could be linear, circular or depressed or elevated.

thick or thin , hyperpigmented or hypopigmented( coloured)

Each nature is important as the treatment option varies accordingly.

Abnormal scarring.

Some people and certain areas of the body in the same people are prone to develop some abnormal scarring pattern. these are not only trouble some looking, the treatment options are also very difficult.

• Keloid scars. These result of excessive wound  healing process.that it the mechanism to cover the would even after the wound is healed. the scarring process continues. It is like a failed feedback mechanism. They start to go beyond the original size of the injury. Over time they hinder movement. most importantly the occur after a trivial injury. some times followin pimples. Surgery, steroid injections, or silicone sheets to flatten the scar are all the available treatments. 
• Contracture scars. These result as the end of a burn.When the injury is deeper and the entire skin gets injured the haeling happens from the neighbouring skin. this lead to the wound being pulled from all sides leading to a contracture. when it happens over a joint it can lead to difficult in the movement of the joitnts. It requires surgery to correct. 
• Hypertrophic scars. These are raised, red scars similar to keloids.howwever they do not grow in size. It usually happens over larger wounds and infected wounds.

How to treat a scar? 

The treatment option varies upon the type, site and size. It requires proper planing .

• Surgical removal.  These include skin grafts, excision, laser surgery and dermabrasion. Surgeon decides the best available treatment addressing your concerns.
• Injections. Steroid injections treat scars that protrude, such as keloids or hypertrophic scars. it has to been given in correct way and dosages.The are usually better. Ther are other injection also available apart from the steroids.
• Laser treatments. CO2 lasers are useful in reducing the thickness of the scar. often used on the face was cosmetic appearance.

Ear keloids.

Earkeloids are trouble some as the are not only causing abnormality on the ears, they prevent from wearing a nice ear rings. More importantly, they are not treated properly in may places leading to dissatisfaction among the patients.

treatment options.

Surgical excision. Most often it would require a surgical removal.It could be done under numbing injections alone. following the removal of the thick scar we do aesthetic suturing if the ear lobe , so that you get back the normal shpe of the ear.

Follow up: following up with the clinic is very vital and mandatory. as we advice on continuing the course of the keloid in order to prevent keloid from coming back. It includes massages, silicone sheets and injections if needed
